Steve,

 I think the thread has pretty much answered what I was asking.  I was just 
saying setting up RAID is one thing but testing it to see if it works is 
another.  Many people have responded with a pretty big "yes, it does work"  
The thread just addressed a question I had been pondering for some time now.
