[K12OSN] Installation observations

I've found that if you run your k12ltsp server in runlevel 3, the login
daemon (gdm or whatever) does not start. The client appears to hang at
a gray screen with nothing but an "X" cursor.

You need to change inittab to start prefdm for both runlevel 3 and 5:

# Run xdm in runlevel 5
# xdm is now a separate service
x:35:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon

Also, since the k12ltsp server runs both dhcpd and named, why are all
the workstation names hardcoded in /etc/hosts?

It's much easier to change subnets, or even to run separate subnets, if
you use dynamic DNS updates. You can also assign names dynamically
based on the hardware type, which makes troubleshooting much easier.

I can provide necessary examples for that if there is interest. From
what I can tell, the one additional step needed during installation
could be automated to be transparent to the user doing the install.
