Here's another link of interest along the same lines, Moodle:

http://moodle.com

Moodle is a software package for producing internet-based courses and web
sites (including this one).

Moodle is an ongoing research and development project designed to support a
social constructionist pedagogy for students, teachers and developers.

Moodle is Free software, in the sense that it is Open Source software
(under the GNU Public License). Moodle runs without modification on Linux,
Windows, Mac OS X and any other system that supports PHP. Data is stored in
a single database, which can be of any brand (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle,
Access etc).

So many options, so little time...you just have to love OSS! ;-)
