[K12OSN] Video problems with Gateway Solo 9500 labtop & Redhat 8.0

I'm trying to install k12LTSP 30 on my labtop. It is a Gateway Solo 9500.
It has an ATI 128 video card w/16megs RAM and a 15.7 inch SXGA TFT
Display. I can't seem to get KDE or Gnome to load. When it trys to load
the xwindows system it flashes to the login text prompt then black and so
on (back and forth a couple of times). Then it bails into a text based
screen with blue background. The text is jiberish though. When I select
one of the jiberish choices I exit the screen and it takes me to the text
login and I can then login. I can't seem to use anything in graphic mode.
I know I probably have the wrong display selected, but I tried a few
different ones and can't seem to get this to work right. Any ideas?
