Hi folks,
I just checked the HP website for a general description of this message.
This is what I found.
HP JetDirect Print Servers - HP JetDirect Internal Cards and 40 MIO or EIO
Message
ISSUE: The front control panel displays a message that reads "40 MIO",
"40.1 HP MIO", or "40 EIO."
WORKAROUND:
Check the configuration of the printer with these steps. Not all printers
have an Auto Continue feature (such as, the HP LaserJet 8500, any HP
DesignJet or HP DeskJet printer.)
Follow the steps below to see if it appears on your specific model:
1) Take the printer offline.
2) Press the Menu button until the Configuration menu appears.
3) Press the Item button until Auto Cont=No appears. Press the plus/minus
button to change the display to Auto Cont=Yes.
4) Press the Enter or Select button. Make sure that an asterisk appears
next to Auto Cont=Yes.
5) Put the printer online and try printing again.
If the message occurs again, try the following steps:
CAUTION: When working with electronics, always take extreme care to avoid
electrical discharges by grounding yourself before handling the item in
question.
1) Turn off the power of the printer.
2) Detach all cables from the HP JetDirect card.
3) Unscrew the attaching screws on the HP JetDirect card and remove it from
the slot.
4) Carefully slide the JetDirect card into the other slot in the rear of
the printer (for example, if the card is in the upper location, place it in
to the lower slot). Make sure that the card is secure in the slot.
5) Reconnect the previously removed LAN cable and try printing again.
If the error persists only when printing, try printing a different document
or try printing from a different application.
Also, try using a different driver. If using Windows NT, try printing
though a different port type. For example, try the Hewlett-Packard Network
Port (using the DLC protocol) or the LPR port (using the TCP/IP protocol
and TCP/IP Printing service.)
SUMMARY: This message is a generic communication error. The printer manuals
define them as either an interruption in communication between the printer
and the HP JetDirect card or an interruption in communication to the
network while data was being sent from the network.
Cheers,
Bert
