[K12OSN] How to switch windows managers

I am trying to figure out how to switch windows mangers eg.  from Gnome 
to TWM or Ice, on the terminals...I have tried playing with 
/etc/X11/prefdm but I think that is for the server only....not sure what 
to do for the terminals.
