Since the very nature of what we're all about is to be as public as
possible, I'd rather not close down the archives.

I think it enough to know that no one from K12Linux or RedHat is going to
harvest your address and sell it to a spammer.

If you are a spammer with deep pockets though and are desperate, do contact
me. 

We (the schools in mesd.k12.or.us domain) are protected from spam by the
RBL: http://mail-abuse.org/rbl/  This works VERY well and I'd suggest that
all schools take advantage of it.
