Here's what we're using on the Cirrus Logic GD54M40:
XSERVER=XF86_SVGA
X_COLOR_DEPTH=16
X_HORZSYNC=31-62
X_VERTREFRESH=55-90
X_RES_1=800x600@74 49.50 800 832 1016 1048 600 611 619 631
One the terminals w/ 1MB of vram, it does 800x600 w/ 16-bit color. On
the ones w/ 2MB vram, it switches up to 1024x768 w/ 16-bit color.
