Hi all,

I'm able to get my hands on some Netier 1000XL thinclients and wonder if
anyone here has experience with them.
The specs seem right:
-Realtek PXE
-Via686a sound
-AMD3D 300 cpu
-60MB memory

It's really the sound I worry about. via686a seems flacky (buggy chipset
according to kernel archives) The via686a is hardware locked on 48000Hz
and esd doesn't produce more than approx 3 static bursts of sound a
second.=20

via82cxxx_audio, soundcore and ac97 are loaded automagically by LTSP.

adding -r 48000 to esd.conf was not very helpfull.

Is it possible to use ALSA sound instead of the esd sound deamon with
LTSP? I'm told the via686a works okay with ALSA.

Best regards,

Immanuel Derks
