It depends on which display manager you are using. I believe GDM is
the default in 3.0.0, while KDM is the default in 3.0.1. With KDM,
edit /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc and change the SessionTypes as appropriate. I
can't recall how to configure GDM. Maybe just move everything but
IceWM out of /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions ?

Don't know if you could hack kickstart to set this up. Also, Knoppix
does a cool trick where it can write a file to a FAT32 partition to
use as swap. Food for thought.
