Squid and DansGuardian is a great combination.

We are working on an implementation that will see all requests for web
access directed to an LDAP server for validation. That way, every web
access record in DG and Squid will be matched with a username in the
logs. Also, for the real BAAAAAAD students, we will be able to disallow
web access completely. DG has one great feature (well, it has
many.....but I like this one) of being able to filter out downloads by
file extension. That means no mp3, exe, zip, etc.

Squid with Dansguardian is a must. It's awesome. Squidguard has its
benefits too, but we just use DansGuardian right now.
