Hi Eric,

I have seen your comments (redhat list) on the issue regarding upgrading of openldap and I hope
that you can throw me some light on this matter.

I am a newbie to openldap and my company need to upgrade the current openldap (v2.0.8), which is
on a master / slave configuration. The difficult part about upgrading both the machine is there
cannot be any downtime as the ldap is a critical part of the business process. I have actually
read some other list and i understand that i could do the following,

On the master
1. stop the master ldap
2. use slapcat (v2.0.8) to backup the current entries to an ldif file
3. upgrade the ldap to v2.1.12
4. use slapadd (v2.1.12) to add the entries back to new version.

On the slave
1. upgrade to a master ( to handle the ldap request while master is being upgrade)
2. keep the replication log for updating the original master server

But the problem is
1. can the above discribed feasible ?
2. can the replication log able to be applied to the another server running on different version ?

your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!
