I also have a question about printers. I recently installed cups and
(supposedly) set it up correctly to print to an old HP 660 as a test (my
district has alot of these). Cups says everything is fine, no errors to the
printer - but applications won't print. I don't see anything in the queue.
I'm sure it's an "I forgot to configure something" problem but I followed
the directions and can't find any errors to help me along. Anyone have an
idea?

P.S. This linux box isn't on the network; it's directly connected to the
printer. First things first, I thought. Also, it's running SuSe 7.3.

Thanks much,
Max

Hi,

My apologies if this is a duplicate

Trying to print from Netscape 6.2 and/or Mozilla(version included with the
K12ltsp 7.2 distribution) to an HP 4M+ with a JetDirect card and it reports
a "40 MIO Error" every time.

Can successfully print from OpenOffice and Abiword to the same printer. I
used printconf to set up the JetDirect que and HP 4M Postsrcipt driver.
Then used spadin in OpenOffice to install their HP 4M driver. Abiword just
uses the lpr command in the command line which is the same command Netscape
uses.

Did a little search on the web and the error is reported in association with
Apple Laserwriters although one suggestion is that the JetDirect firmware
needs to be upgraded. Makes some since since it's Postscript but my question
is why are the problems only showing up in Netscape?
