It Works! - He says with a grin!  Thanks very much for the pointer.  As
it happens I have a Linksys PCMCIA card which, according to the README,
is supported. The laptop didn't have enough memory to boot into X but
the disk itself worked a treat.  By pilfering some memory from another
machine I was able to prove the graphical log on.  With any luck I'll be
able to pick up some memory off ebay and press this old gem back in to
service. Again, many thanks!
