Assuming most kids have Windows at home, check out FileZilla
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/) if you want to use SSH for
transferring files. It's a Windows (only, sadly) ftp client that can do SCP
over SSH. It's all graphical, drag-n-drop, easy to setup, and it's GPL.
